June Life Update!

Hey everyone! I hope you’re having a fabulous day! If I haven’t talked to you lately (even if I HAVE talked to you lately XD) tell me how you’ve been!! I’d love to know what y’all have been enjoying (and thinking about) lately! 🤗 And of course, if you don’t comment, I’ll just look at who liked my post and come ask you myself, “so, what’s up?” XD

How have we come to the end of June and I have STILL not posted my goals? *brain blows up* Well guys, I have a lot of posts in drafts but the time doesn’t feel quite right to post them yet. Suffice it to say though, I hope to be on here a little more in the near future. I haven’t given up on y’all! 😂 So I thought I’d do a little “life update” post to update y’all on my June goals, plans for July, and bucket list status!

Although I didn’t complete all my May goals, I worked at them and learned a lot of huge lessons over the month of May, like realizing that I’d like to spend more time reading the Word, and I’ve been working on that during this past month of June. Even if its just a couple chapters a day, going forward, I think that it will be key for me to make time for reading the Bible, but not put pressure on myself to complete a certain number of Bible books per month. Even though that can be fun in it’s own timing. 😂

And, here are my May favorites! (Plus some all-time favorites that I’ve been wanting to share for some time! XP)

  • Some articles, here and here, from my friend Noelle over at “A Rose For The Lord”! I really loved these posts and found them inspiring and fun, so be sure to check them out at Noelle’s Christian life-style and love-style blog!
  • My friend Keziah’s podcast, which already has several great episodes. I’ve really enjoyed listening to it while doing chores! She has some really great thoughts and tips for us Earth-dwelling and Bible-believing teenagers!
  • Going hiking!
  • Singing and playing guitar in a worship session.
  • Redoing my bedroom! (Don’t worry, I WILL eventually post on this! 😜)
  • This post, by Tanyaremkiv. So good.
  • Finding a poem I’d begun writing a while ago (to my great joy and thankfulness! I’ve been scarred for life by the loss of a ton of files, so I was really grateful to find at least one of my literary flights and make it intact!)
  • Allie’s blog! Allie is just a barrel full of fun and passion! Check out her most recent “get to know you” post here!

This month of June, I wanted to keep my goals simple. I only had a few things that I really wanted to accomplish during this month, so I thought I’d focus on those, and on recuperating and getting my strength back up for school in the Fall!

  • Go hiking
  • Help lots of people with gardening!
  • Practice volleyball
  • Cross a TON of stuff off my bucket list.

And, like perfection, it happened! But of course, there are still three days left in June, so maybe I can try to “redo” some of these! XD

First of all, now that it’s the summer before my last “first day” of school, I’m really stressed and nervous about getting the appropriate coursework done before graduation next spring … I’m considering doing Government, American History, American Literature, Chemistry, Trigonometry and Calculus, studying Electrics modules, studying Piano, and trying out for the volleyball team. *wipes beads of sweat just thinking about it* As a homeschooler, (and this might be most homeschoolers’ experience,) I have been pushed to the limit academically before, but I never had to spend much TIME on it. It was difficult mentally, but it never took me long to complete assignments or essays.

Now that I’m working on Grade 11 coursework, I’m overwhelmed by things that shouldn’t seem so insurmountable. It will take a lot of committed work to attain the educational goals I’m aiming for.

Update of how my Summer Bucket List is coming along …

  • Hiking … twice!
  • Lots of volleyball!
  • I have not worn make-up in months. It’s Insane.
  • Talked to people! *fist pump* That is, talked concisely and maturely. 😉
  • GOT TO LESSON 111!!! 🎉🥳
  • baked a couple things I never had before …
  • made smoothies (this took SO much work … 😜)
  • I have studied three of my electrics modules! Only thirty-six more to go! XD

Personal + The Bible

Lately, I’ve been thinking a LOT about the future, and what I’ll do in my future. I know that everyone has a different path, and I’ve been seeking God’s Will in this, by praying and asking Him to reveal my steps. It’s so hard. And its also really hard. Did I mention its really hard? XD Another burden that I’m struggling to bear, is knowing that as I seek God’s Will, there will almost certainly be things that I don’t want to do. There might be so many of them that I’ll wish I hadn’t prayed. But, according to the book of James, I have a responsibility to pray for wisdom, in faith, and to follow through on the directions God gives me.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

James 1:5-8, NKJV

One of the things that I am SO grateful for is that I am blessed with a supportive family. My parents love me in different, but complementary ways. My mom is always ready to listen, and my dad always says the right thing. (Oh, and not forgetting my brothers, who are brutally honest, but can be very sweet!) Put them all together, and I have the most amazing support group ever! XD Seriously, I have been given so much peace whenever I’m feeling really stressed, by talking about it and getting my family’s advice and encouragement on what I should do, what steps I should take … AND, by just not thinking about it! I try to do the best I can with what I’ve got going on right now, and not worrying about the future.

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Mathew 6:31-34, NKJV

Of course, the Bible has been so helpful to me in this search. Striking a balance, doing what God wants me to do as well as taking the initiative, taking tiny steps while looking up at Him every once in a while to make sure I’m going the right way, is SO difficult, and I think is the MOST difficult when the only specific and definite life direction I’ve ever received from him is what I’ve read in the Bible, which applies to everyone generally … but its not so clear what the Bible has to say on the specific details of my future career. #stillpraying

During the first whole week of July, I will be taking an intense lifeguarding class which has minimum fitness requirements far beyond what I am used to. I’m not too concerned about the head knowledge testing but have been praying over the approaching class. It lasts from 9:00-5:00. Monday to Friday. 😳 So yeah, for a week I essentially have a fulltime and part-time job. *tosses math book in the trash* *for now*

I’ve also got high hopes for more hiking, beachgoing, and maybe even some kayaking. I’ve been realizing more and more, that its so hard to “plan” a summer as one kid out of four siblings, with lots of work and chores also begging for attention, and trying to arrange schedules, but it has also been amazingly surprising how my parents have planned so much fun stuff that I already wanted to do, so I’m feeling the blessings! XD

I’m not going to share too many specifics, since I’m planning to make a “July Goals” post pretty soon, so stay tuned for that! For now, I’ll just say to all of you who have made it this far, thank you so much for caring enough about me to read this long (and probably confusing!) post! Your support and friendship means so much to me! 🤗

I hope this gave you a bit of a window into what I’ve been doing lately! I’m going to leave y’all with a song of the day, one that I immediately enjoyed the first time I listened to it, and one that is so encouraging and amazing! *keels over* Anyways, hope y’all enjoy! See you next time! 👋

I’m glad you’re having an awesome summer! I loved the verses and the song you shared!
Have you seen The Chosen? I heard so many good things about it so I decided to give it a try and see if I liked it. And wow, did I ever! It’s such a fun and inspiring show, and Jesus is just amazing. 😍 Out of the disciples, I love Matthew the most, but they’re all portrayed so brilliantly. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve seen it!

Aww, that’s sweet of you, Lilly! I’m happy to be back on again! Yes, recently I’ve been keeping busy with lots of summer activities … its been AMAZING to leave winter behind and drink in the sun! 😂How have you been in the last week?

Haha, well, don’t drink in too much sun! My life has been pretty quiet. Mostly school and Bible Bee work. My summer has actually been so boring that I’ve been working ahead in school. 😂 I can’t wait to see your July goals post!

LOL, I know! In fact, I’m slightly sunburned at the moment … 🤣 .. *slathers on aloe vera gel* … but yes, I will be a little more burn-conscious throughout summer! Oh me too, its always good to get a little ahead in school! Hehe, neither can I! XD I just need to work on it a bit, and maybe I can finally be on schedule and get it out in the first few days of July!

Recently discovered your blog and I’ve been loving it so far!

I recommend focusing on quality rather than quantity when it comes to spending time with God. I used to almost rush through books just for the sake of completing them, but now I’m working on making spending time with him a priority as well and I get mor eout of it when I reflect on chapters/passages and slow down to think rather than reading it quickly. Just a suggestion! And also with the certain number of Bible books a month- some of them are looooong😂, so if you ever decide you want to do that again, just don’t feel bad if you don’t meet your goal!

Thanks so much, Natalie! And thanks for the advice as well, I do appreciate it!! I agree, some bible books are so long, but for the most part that makes them even better, since most of the long ones are so good! (*ahem* Isaiah, Psalms … )
Thanks for commenting! 🤗 How have you been keeping?

And on the aspect of not knowing God’s plan for the future, love you are doing great! It is so hard to be in that spot, but you are doing exactly what you need to do! Prayer and spending time in the word! I’m definitely adding you to my prayer list love!

Again thank you so much!!! And I hope you have a wonderful week! 💛

Thanks so much for the encouragement and prayers! (Don’t we all need it! 😅) Is there anything I can be praying over your life, friend?

Ohmygoodnessgirl YOU ARE BUSY! Or at least you like to do a lot of stuff. You do so many more things than me. One of them being posting non-homework stuff on your blog fairly regularly (or, at least, frequently). I’ve been working on a short story off-and-on for months that I’ve been wanting to post, AND IT’S NOWHERE NEAR FINISHED!!! Ugh. I need to get better at time management.

Really, the most exciting thing that I’ve done in the past year is going on vacation. I went to the beach for the first time in a decade (and getting a nasty sun burn at it, too) and I swam with a dolphin (his name was Comet and was SOOOO CUTE!!!). Otherwise, my life is boring. I’m visiting my grandparents right now. Also, my parents and I got some baby chicks 1.5 weeks ago, and I made gluten-free Orange Chicken with cauliflower rice. The chicken and rice were *chef’s kiss* but the sauce. Nope. Nooope, nope nope nope NOPE. The aftertaste was too tart and the sauce was too liquid-y. Also, I have a weird obsession trying to speak in different accents, right now (my English one is fairly good, if I say so myself!).

So, that’s basically how my life’s going. Always love hearing how you’re CRUSHING life, Makayla!

    God Bless,

Heheh, I feel like it’s been forever since I posted! XD I actually don’t think I’ll post any more schoolwork on here except the interesting stuff, since I made a new blog for my school at ahomeschooledteen.wordpress.com. Don’t feel bad about that at all, goodness there are times when I wish I could manage my time better too!

OHMYGOODNESS, what is it with the sunburns this year?? I did too, and I can really sympathize with you, it is painful! Dolphins are so exotic, I’ve swum with one too actually (way back when the days were longer XD), and it was so cool! Actually that chicken recipe sounds absolutely delicious! Good for you for getting in the kitchen, here we aren’t even ALLOWED to cook right now, because it’s too hot!

Aw, glad to hear that you’re doing well, Annika! And I’m glad my life is interesting! 🤣

We’ve posted on our blogs so much in the past, and we’ve given them all of the tools to write their own blog posts, yet they are being stubborn and want US to write those blog posts. Tsk, tsk, tsk. How rude. And speaking of blogs, congrats on your new one! I know that you’ll do amazing on your new one, just like you are with this one.

WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO OFFEND YOU SUN???? *sigh* The sun offers great vitamin D, then it punish us if we get a smidge too much. Hopefully, your sunburn wasn’t *too* terribly bad, Makayla, but, I do sympathize with you too! And you’ve swum with dolphins? That’s so neat! If you don’t mind my asking, where did you swim with them?

That chicken recipe was sooo good (I can almost taste it!), but, we can’t cook anymore either. We’re doing a remodel on our kitchen, and we had to pull out the stove/oven in order to break off the backsplash. So, junk food and takeout for the foreseeable future, lol. Hopefully you and your family will be able to cook again, even if you have to buy 101 fans to cool you off while you’re at it!

I’m glad to hear that you are doing well too! And, yes, your life is really interesting! XD

First of all, Happy July Makayla… I can’t believe June is over already! (Heads up, I wrote this comment as I read through… so be prepared for a somewhat all over the place, long-ish comment coming up! But hey, this was SUCH a fun post to read!!)

So in your May favourites… wow, it is SO awesome that your friend has her own podcast! It’s getting late-ish here but I plan to start listening tomorrow! Also, re doing your bedroom… what fun!!

Now onto school, wow, that sounds like a lot! But it sounds fun too, just don’t over do it 😉 hehe, although a challenge is definitely healthy every now and again!! And wow, the summer before your last first day… it’s crazy to think that!!

It sounds like you’ve checked some pretty awesome things off your summer bucket list… hiking is so much fun especially if the weather is nice. Last week I did a two day hike with my school which was really fun (and exhausting haha!!) Ooh, what did you bake?? And what smoothies did you make? Agh thats so much fun!!!!

Oh wow, as for the thinking about your future, I totally relate! I think at the age we’re at now there is a ton of pressure to think about that, but it’s so wonderful to see how you turn to the Lord for help and guidance about all that. Definitely some encouragement in there that I needed to hear today!! (I think I fall in the #stillpraying catagory for that one too haha) (you don’t know how long I searched to find the ‘#’ key on my keyboard hahaha)

Ooh and all you July plans sound so much fun too… I can’t wait for the July goals post but until then keep having an awesome summer and enjoy this ESSAY of a comment, dear friend!! XD

Yessss! (I can see that your comment is long!! Can’t wait to read it! 🤣) Oh yes, do listen to Keziah’s podcast! She also has a blog at keziahe.home.blog and her posts are so mature and thoughtful! And I know, I now wish I had made a bigger deal about my “first days”, I’ve only got one left on which to take a snazzy pic! XD

A two-day hike sounds amazing! (and tiring, but your calf muscles are probably bulging now, amiright? XD)

I baked scones in the american style, (not the british haha!), some with dried cranberries and others lemon poppyseed. *mouth waters* I’ve always wanted to try them since their name conjures up such beautiful pictures in my head, and they (well, the second batch 😉) turned out beautifully! In fact, thank you for reminding me … I was going to make a post on them! (And as far as smoothies go, I normally wing it! I love using mango, and sometimes I’ll add hemp seeds, vanilla extract, banana, spinach, cream, cocoa powder (which makes a chocolate smoothie 😍) and other fruits that we happen to have around the house!)

Oh I am SO glad that some of that helped you! 🤗💕 It’s probably a recurring thought in both of our lives! Every time I struggle with the “uncertainty”, I remember how at least one thing is certain – how Yah wants me to be doing the best I can in the situation in which He’s placed me! (###keyboardstruggles 🤣)

I can’t believe its already halfway through the year …. it seems like the time passes by too fast! Aww Megan, I loved getting this amazing comment!! Yes, let’s totally ROCK summer! 😂🤗🤍 Sending lots of love, girly!

(my computer went flat last night just as I was about to read your posts so here I am…It’s been a long journey) 😂😂

I love Keziah’s podcast too! It’s defiantly food for thought!
Congratulations on checking so much stuff off your bucket list, it’s such an accomplishing feeling and I am so proud of you, girl! Good luck on your lifeguard class, your new goals and your personal growth! You sound super, crazily busy which (as always) inspires me and so many more people to keep pushing! 🤎👊🏻

I love your wisdom in this post, Makayla! It sounds like you had a good and reflective month! Love you! Xxx

Omigoodness, I was so excited to read your sweet comment!! I’m so glad you finally got here!! 🤣 Thanks so much for your wellwishing and encouragement, and I can only hope that its Yah’s light you see shining through me! 🤗💗 Love you so much, and I’m so grateful for your CONSTANT support, not just in the “blogger” sense, but also in the personal and friendship area! 💕
